Family Guidance Center is grateful for the support we received for our Mind Your Health event. This health and wellness event was intended to encourage both physical exercise and engaging family time – as each can improve mental health! As you may recall, the event was originally scheduled to be held on May 16, 2020 and was to include a 5k run, family-friendly walk, and plenty of free family and kid-friendly health and wellness activities. Due to COVID-19, the event was rescheduled to September with the hopes of declining numbers and relaxed guidelines. Unfortunately, as September quickly approached and the CDC guidelines and recommendations have not changed very much, our event committee decided it was in everyone’s best interest to no longer hold an in-person event. However, what do you do when you can’t share a great message in person? Share it virtually, of course!
Thanks to our sponsors’ help, we will be releasing brief video messages throughout the month of September. These videos will contain tips and educational messages to help all of us mind our health, both physically and mentally. It is our hope to be able to continue to support our community’s health and wellness, even through a virtual environment.
Don’t forget, Family Guidance Center is here for your friends, your family, your neighbors, and for YOU. Thankfully, we have been able to provide individual telehealth sessions throughout the COVID-19 crisis and now have a plan in place to re-start in-person sessions come August 31st. We are so grateful for the continued support of the United Way, as well as sponsors like Alvernia University, Berkshire CPAs, the Breidegam Family Foundation / EastPenn Manufacturing, Co., Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (CCBH) / UPMC, Haven Behavioral Hospital of Eastern Pennsylvania, Knies Insurance Group, M&T Bank, Mosteller & Associates, Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), RKL LLP, Roswick & Company LLC, and Tompkins VIST Bank, which enable us to provide all of our services and continue to provide events such as Mind Your Health.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce our next in-person Mind Your Health Event will be held in Fall 2021, once again at the beautiful Stone House in Wyomissing. Be sure to save the date as we are greatly looking forward to seeing everyone once again!
For now, we hope you enjoy the video messages and resource links we’ll be sharing throughout the month!
