The 4th Annual Mind Your Health

Thank you to all attendees, vendors, volunteers and sponsors for your tremendous effort and participation in the 4th Annual Mind Your Health event! The day was full of activity, plenty of sun (and heat!), crazy balloon creations, delicious snacks and smoothies, an amazing assortment of raffle baskets and vendor displays, creatively decorated bikes (and other wheeled rides), and many smiling faces! If you were present for the event and have some feedback to share, we’d love to hear it! Film Screening: The Mask You Live In

On Friday, April 29, 2022, Family Guidance Center hosted a free screening of the film, “The Mask You Live In.” The event included a brief presentation on the purpose of the film and local statistics on violence, crime, mental health, substance abuse and rates of suicide in Reading, Berks County and the United States.

Holiday Family Fun Night

A tremendous THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Holiday Family Fun Night on December 8th, 2021! Over 110 (WOW!) children enjoyed the walk-through of decorated Christmas doors and gifted crafts and treats, ending with the ultimate greeting from our wonderful Santa Claus and photos taken by Mrs. Claus! It truly was an evening full of smiles, laughter and holiday cheer. Be sure to check out the Reading Eagle article.

Special thanks to all our amazing volunteer elves, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and the United Way of Berks County for attending and gifting free books from its Ready! Set! READ! program (https://readysetreadberks.org)!

Drive-Thru Holiday Family Fun Night

Family Guidance Center hosted a DRIVE-THRU Holiday Family Fun Event. Although COVID-19 changed our party plans, we were excited to still have a way to bring some holiday cheer to our community! A drive through our parking lot led to dancing elves, holiday music, and collection of a gift bag filled with goodies. Santa found some time in his busy schedule to bring all participants some holiday cheer!


Stress: Unique Challenges for Today’s Teens and their Parents

Multiple participants joined our therapist, Frederick Indenbaum, Ed.S, LPC, VIRTUALLY on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 for an interactive Zoom presentation. The presentation  addressed the teen years, which are filled with unique challenges as well as indelible life experiences. Discussion centered around common teenage stressors, coping, responses and symptoms of stress, and what can be done to help combat stress in a teenager’s life.

Holiday Family Fun Night

Our 2019 Holiday Family Fun Night was another success, despite the snowy weather! Thank you to all who braved the weather and showed up for crafts, music, dancing, gift giving and a meet and greet with our friend, Santa Claus. Your smiles really brightened up our holiday season. Fall Festival

Thank you, so much, to all attendees and volunteers of our very first Fall Festival! We saw lots of awesome painted and decorated pumpkins and masks, incredible frisbee artists, wacky balloon animals (and cucumbers), spooooky painted faces, and some pretty wicked dance moves. We certainly had a blast and hope you did, too!

Holiday Family Fun Night

A FREE family-friendly holiday party for the Berks County community and beyond! This year, we had close to 75 children join in the festivities, creating holiday-themed crafts, playing games, and enjoying a multitude of snacks. Santa Claus found time in his busy schedule for a visit and every child received an age-appropriate gift. So much fun!
